Meet The Craftsman Behind THW
“Restoration isn’t just about fixing what’s broken, it’s about respecting the story a home already holds.”
Cesar Paiva
Cesar was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and came to Canada in 1990, settling first in Montreal. His early career was in banking and economics — but it was always his hands that told him where he belonged.
He left finance to enroll in a carpentry trade school, followed by an intensive furniture-making program. What started as a course correction became a 30-year career spanning commercial and residential construction, new builds, restorations, and renovations across Canada.
Fluent in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, Cesar brings as much care to client communication as he does to the work itself. He has a natural eye for interior design — for how a space should feel, function, and hold together over time — and a craftsman's instinct for getting the details right.
He now calls Liverpool, Nova Scotia home, and works with homeowners across the province who want their home built or restored the way it deserves.
About THW Home Improvement
THW stands for The House Whisperer — and while historic homes are where Cesar Paiva's reputation was built, the name speaks to something broader: a way of working that's attentive, skilled, and deeply respectful of every structure he touches.
We take pride in blending traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to bring that story back to life. Whether it’s preserving a historic structure or building something new, every project is approached with care, integrity, and a commitment to lasting quality.
“This renovation was a dream come true, and it would not have been possible without the expertise and dedication of Cesar and team.”
— Paula & Kevin Colwell, Liverpool, Nova Scotia
